Rodney Anderson & CeeDee Lamb Named To Earl Campbell Watch List

The 2018 college football season is just weeks but the watch lists are still rolling out. A new one, just released on Tuesday, includes two Oklahoma football players.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals. In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year college.

Among the 47 players listed are running back Rodney Anderson and receiver CeeDee Lamb. A sophomore, from Richmond, TX., Lamb was Oklahoma’s third leading receiver in 2017. He hauled in 46 passes for 807 yards and (17.5 YPC) 7 scores.

Anderson, and junior from Katy, TX, emerged as Oklahoma’s top running back midway through the season. He led the Sooners on the ground with 1,161 rushing yards (6.2 YPC) and scored 13 touchdowns.

The Watch List will be narrowed to 16 semifinalists in November and then up to 5 finalists in December. They will be selected by broadcasters, commentators, journalists, fans, and previous winners. The finalists will be brought to Tyler, Texas for The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Banquet scheduled for January 9, 2019.
