Oklahoma Running Back Rodney Anderson Out For The Season

What we feared for Oklahoma running back Rodney Anderson became true on Sunday evening when Lincoln Riley announced that the star back was lost for the season with a right knee injury.

“We’re heartbroken for him,” Riley said in a press release. “He’s overcome so much in his career, and if anybody can do it again it’s Rodney.”

Arguably the best running back in the country, Anderson had already missed his freshman season, after suffering a broken leg against Tennessee in 2015, and then missed the 2016 season after injuring his neck in fall camp. That makes this Anderson’s third season ending injury.

“He’s played a lot of great football and has a lot more ahead of him,” Riley said. “He’s just a tremendous person and player and we’ll miss him on the field. But we know he’ll be with us every step of the way as a team captain, and that other players will step up in his place.”
