After all the action over the course of the week came to a close, a top twenty-five shake up was bound to happen. Fans from various fanbases have chosen to defend the rankings or completely tear them apart. Regardless, five new teams appear in this week’s AP Poll.

Despite dismantling a conference opponent, the Oklahoma Sooners continue in a downward trend. Slipping a single spot in the rankings this week, the top five seems out of the question at the moment. However, a chance to claim a spot in the College Football Playoff lies just around the corner as OU prepares for a rivalry pairing with the Texas Longhorns. It will be the first ranked foe the Sooners have played this season and certainly will not be the last.

On another note, the Oklahoma State Cowboys rejoin to ranks of the top twenty-five after faltering earlier. Securing an expected and convincing win over a bottom tier conference opponent reassured those surrounding the program. Proving a bit of a boost in terms of morale, the Cowboys get a difficult Iowa State squad at home in Stillwater as the next barometer.

While these rankings mean absolutely nothing, it provides a key talking point. Bragging rights remain on the line until the CFP Rankings are released in October for the first time.
