At the close of the weekend, the AP Poll experienced quite a bit of shake-up inside the top twenty-five. Yet, the Texas Longhorns continues to hold down the title of ‘hottest program’ in the country. Earning a last minute victory over the Oklahoma Sooners in a heated rivalry, the Longhorns leapfrog into the top ten. On the losing side of the equation, Oklahoma slides down four spots after being dealt the first loss of the season.

Suffering the same fate, the Oklahoma State Cowboys were dropped from the rankings following their second loss. The most recent loss came at the hands of a struggling Iowa State team. Make no mistakes, the year is far from over for all programs involved in the Big 12. Anything can and will happen!

The real story here though remains the UCF Black Knights. Riding the longest win streak in the nation, the program self-proclaimed themselves as national champions last year despite failing to make an appearance in the College Football Playoff. Backing up the undefeated season, it appears as though UCF is on track once again for a second consecutive year without a blemish on their record. It’s this kind of play that is pushing the Black Knights into the conversation — especially after three top tens teams lost.

As the season continues full steam ahead, several others will undoubtedly be knocked out of contention. When the first CFP Rankings release, where will an undefeated UCF sit?
