Early on in the year, the running back position suffered a couple of setbacks as Abdul Adams announced his intentions to transfer. Shortly after, the injury plagued Rodney Anderson suffered yet another issue that sidelined the star for a third year. Yet, the Oklahoma Sooners relied on plenty of young talent to carry the load as well as one transfer student-athlete.
On Thursday afternoon, depth at the position that produced 645 rushing yards over the past two weeks will once again take a hit. According to RJ Young of OUInsider and repeated by 247Sports Marcelias Sutton will miss the remainder of the season after sustaining an injury himself. A potent kick returner, Sutton sat behind a few younger counterparts in terms of ball carrying responsibilities.
With the announcement, the Sooners now have three viable rushers available. All three are underclassman that lack the experience of those lost. But make no mistake, the future is bright at the position as Kennedy Brooks and Trey Sermon anchor the current effort.
