“Obviously, that was a fun one, great college football game. I’m really proud of our players and their ability to fight back. I thought our coaches made tremendous adjustments at halftime, maybe as good as I’ve been around in a long, long time. I’ve always said–I’ll be honest with you about whether we get out coached, out played, gave it away or whatever, but our coaches made tremendous adjustments at halftime—gave our players a chance. They bought in. Guys made plays, early in the game Tony (Gibson) did a good job of mixing up coverages–did some things, a couple things we hadn’t seen. Fired a corner on two receiver sides. It got (Taylor Cornelius) off track a little bit, who had a couple ill-advised throws. But then he rallied back and we kind of settled in with what we needed to do, and he was on track pretty good. Couldn’t be any more proud of him and his ability to throw the ball and run it. Defensively, made some adjustments a little bit in the running game at halftime, we were able to squeeze the run better, force them into some throws. They made some throws but we were in coverage, they made good throws, made good catches. Our guys were right there. I’m ok with that. But overall it was good, kicked the ball good. And we’ll let them enjoy it tonight and then we got to get back to work tomorrow.” – Mike Gundy opening statement

“You don’t want to give up the big play. You want to make them earn everything that they get and they did. We are all over their receivers. What a great quarterback and receiving core. We were all over them. We weren’t giving them anything easy and they made a bunch of completions. We used the whole game to stop them.” – Jim Knowles on West Virginia’s final drive

“I think, to a certain extent, a team can get in the situation and think ‘here we go again’, and not come through. Our guys punched through. They broke through that glass. There have been those close calls. It can be a little bit like a disease and our guys just had a resilience about them and they deserve all the credit in the world.” – Mike Yurcich on back-to-back close games

“It’s very nice. We knew we were going to have it, but it’s nice to have it locked in now.” – Taylor Cornelius on gaining bowl eligibility

“I knew we had this, for sure. In the first half, they did some things that they didn’t really show on film all year. So at halftime, we came in and switching things up, made some adjustments and came out on that first drive and were just going through them. I was really happy that we could adjust in the second half.” – Tylan Wallace on his mentality going into the second half

“It was a great team win. Coach Gundy said it was going to be a battle and it was. We just kept hitting back. They knocked us on the ground a couple times, but we kept getting back up and played as a team. It was an awesome win.” – Chuba Hubbard on the win

“I knew that we were sending an all-out blitz, so I thought it was going to be a sack or it was going to come out quick. The pressure made him roll out of the pocket, but I felt like it was a designed roll out to bring (David Sills V) all the way across the field. I saw (Sills) stem out for a slant and when he pushed up, I ran with him. I saw the ball in the air and didn’t want to take any chances with trying to get a pick or anything, so I just said, “Get out of here!” And I knocked it down.” – A.J. Green on his game-winning pass break up

“That’s a fun way to end it. I’m just proud of our guys for going out there, fighting hard and giving everything they had for our seniors.” – Justin Phillips on beating a Top 10 team on Senior Night.

“Cornelius made a play. He is a good player. He has gotten better every week. He has been there for a while. We couldn’t get pressure on him. Couldn’t get off blocks. He scrambled around and kept his eyes down field.” – Dana Holgorsen on Taylor Cornelius
