Here’s the thing about talking trash, it will finally catch up to you. When it does you either have to stand behind your words or cower away from them. It seems that Texas senior defensive end Breckyn Hager has chosen the latter of the two.
In the post game interviews following the Longhorns 24-10 win over Iowa State, Hager was told that Kansas put up 40 points and 524 yards on the No. 6 Oklahoma Sooners while the Longhorns were playing, to which Hager quipped: “Hey, OU has no defense.”
He followed that up by pointing at a clock and saying: “And what time is it? It’s 11:12, and OU still sucks.”
The Big 12 soon reprimanded Hager and made him issue an apology but, rather than accept it, Oklahoma just circled December 1st on their calendars. That would be the day of reckoning. With a likely Red River Rematch looming Hager would be forced to either put up or shut up.
After getting flagged for a crucial face mask penalty, late in the first half, and then recording just a single tackle for the game, Hager was the brunt of seemingly all the jokes on Twitter.

A day that started with the promise of Hager finally cutting his hair at the Big 12 championship trophy presentation ended with the loud-mouthed defender deleting his Twitter account.
Did Twitter a solid, let's get the word out and find him. I wonder what he thinks of OU's Defense now. #TexasSucks🤔😂 pic.twitter.com/6mKQ9VX9zN

That’s the result of the social media savvy world that we live in today. It’s also the result of talking the talk without being able to walk the walk.
