Earlier this week, Lincoln Riley set out on the recruiting trail. The first of many stops included a trip to the northeast corner of the state which has provided other in-state programs with plenty of talent. Dipping into the JUCO circuit, the Oklahoma Sooners are hoping to sway defensive end, LaRon Stokes Jr. to finish his collegiate career in Norman.

Currently enjoying a stay at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in Miami, the eligible recruit stands 6-4 245-pounds. Possessing the ideal size, several parties remain interested in the skill of Stokes Jr. including the Oregon Ducks and Oklahoma State Cowboys. Typically considered a pipeline to Stillwater, Stokes Jr. may flip the script. Set to take an official visit to the University of Oklahoma this weekend, there’s plenty on campus to impress the prospect.
Receiving an offer on December 6th of this year, the relationship between the Sooners and the home grown talent seem to be progressing quickly. Will the Miami, OK native opt to stay in the state of Oklahoma or explore the country with a commitment elsewhere? We’ll follow the story as it unfolds.
