Although the Sooners continue to prepare for the upcoming College Football Playoff, the coaches emphasized the importance of recruiting in the state while the current players knocked out a few finals. Journeying to the northeast part of Oklahoma, the staff met with LaRon Stokes, a junior college defensive end primed for a bigger role at a division one school. Recently receiving an official offer, the homegrown prospect immediately scheduled a visit to Norman.
Excited to say I've committed to the University of Oklahoma @LincolnRiley @CoachThibbs @RuffinMcNeill @TFB_Sooners pic.twitter.com/htegiIH0ZC

Clearly impressed with the tour provided by the university, Stokes verbally committed to play for the Sooners in the upcoming season. Growing up as a fan of the program, others attempted to sway the defensive end but those suitors remained unsuccessful. Needless to say, welcome to the family LaRon! Now, the potential JUCO All-American possesses an opportunity to sign during the early period and maybe, just maybe, set foot on campus early.
At 6-4 and 245-pounds, Stokes has an opportunity to compete for playing time immediately. Nonetheless, behind experience and sheer size, the defensive end certainly adds depth at the position for the foreseeable future.
I
I got to watch La Ron play at N E O .Good job getting him to Norman.
