Over the course the week, the Oklahoma Sooners produced a 4-1 record against programs many expect to see at the Women’s College World Series this year. Evidence of the product on the field, the program claimed every Big 12 Weekly Award this time around.

Infielder Sydney Romero earned Big 12 Player of the Week for the effort in the Mary Nutter Classic. Securing eight hits at the plate, the senior was responsible for eight runs over the duration of week. However, the biggest moment of the season for Romero may have come against No. 14 Arizona. Blasting a two run shot over the wall, the third baseman claimed victory with one swing of the bat.
In the circle, Giselle Juarez continues to define her role within the ball club. An All-American last year with Arizona State, the left-handed pitcher decided to restart her career with the Sooners. Earning two wins over the course of the week, Juarez struck out 29 batters. Allowing a single run, the pitcher recorded a 0.49 ERA through two games. The effort tabbed Juarez as the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week.
On the year, Oklahoma has now claimed four of the six weekly awards dished out by the conference with plenty more to come!
