It didn’t take Oklahoma City very long to learn how valuable Paul George can be. After signing a free agent contract with the Thunder last off-season George has taken command of the team this year and has them jockeying to finish in one of the top four spots in the West.
OKC felt the weight of George’s absence on Thursday night when a sore shoulder kept him out of what ultimately ended up being a four-point home loss to Philadelphia.
On Friday George was named the Western Conference Player of the Month after averaging 35 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 5.4 assists in February.
For the season he is pacing the Thunder with an average of 28.6 points and 2.3 steals per game.
It isn’t known yet if he’ll be available to play against San Antonio on Saturday night. The Thunder are currently tied with Portland for third place in the West.
