A weekend with Oklahoma Softball doesn’t quite seem complete without at least one run-rule victory by the Sooners. Giselle Juarez and company saved this weekend’s run-rule victory for Sunday to ice a sweep of #12/14 Texas Tech.
Oklahoma pounded Tech for thirteen runs off thirteen hits while Juarez kept the Red Raiders scoreless through 5.1 innings in a 13-1 win.
Powered by two fifth inning home runs, the Sooners had the opportunity to end the game in the fifth, with an 8-0 lead, but a solo homer by Tech’s Morgan Hornback pushed the game to the sixth.
Sydney Romero pushed Oklahoma’s lead back to eight with a solo home run to left field. The Sooners then loaded the bases, setting up Grace Green for a grand slam to bury the Red Raiders under a 13-1 deficit.
Green’s homer was Oklahoma’s fourth of the day, marking the second game in a row they’ve hit that number of dingers.
Juarez struck out four Texas Tech batters in the win to improve her season record to 13-0.
Oklahoma returns to Norman Wednesday night to host Tulsa. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 PM (CT).
