Over the past two seasons, the Oklahoma Sooners have cemented themselves as THE destination for quarterback prospects. On Thursday morning, the trend continued as 2021 QB Brock Vandagriff verbally committed to lend his talents to the university.
Possessing a prototypical frame coupled with the ability to throw the ball from various situations, the 5-star drew interest from across the country. Ranked as a No. 1 prospect in the class according to Rivals, Vandagriff held scholarship offers from Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, and Oklahoma — all College Football Playoff contenders.
While being labeled as a pocket passer on the collegiate level by evaluators, Vandagriff proved athletic enough to extend plays with his legs. Delivering passes on the move, many underestimate the running capabilities of the signal caller. As a sophomore last year, Vandagriff compiled a 1,000 rushing season. It’s this combination of skills that lends a hand to the quarterback fitting into the Sooners’ offensive system.
