Oklahoma Football | Jalen Hurts Pulls Even With Heisman Front Runners

To say that Jalen Hurts met expectations in his Oklahoma debut on Sunday night would qualify you for the understatement of the year after just one weekend of college football’s 2019 season. Hurts posted personal and program best numbers against Houston with 332 passing yards, 176 rushing yards, and 6 total touchdowns. Not only was it the most total yards in a single game for Hurts, it was also the most total yards for an Oklahoma quarterback in his debut.

Not only did his performance boost conference title, and playoff, expectations among the fans, it also boosted Hurts’ own Heisman profile. According to Bleacher Report, Hurts is now even with Tua Tagovailoa and Trevor Lawrence.

It’s only Week One but Hurts appears to be on track to become Oklahoma third-consecutive Heisman Trophy winner. Please note the emphasis on, “It’s only Week One.”
