Jalen Hurts played less than three quarters of football in Oklahoma’s 55-16 beat down of Texas Tech on Saturday. In that time he amassed 485 yards and four touchdowns while leading the Sooner offense.
Hurts passed for 415 yards and three scores while also rushing for another 70 yards and a score to become just the third Big 12 quarterback to throw for 415-plus yards, register three passing touchdowns, rush for at least 70 yards and score a rushing touchdown in a conference game (Patrick Mahomes and Trevone Boykin).
Hurts also became the first Big 12 quarterback since Mahomes with three completions of at least 60 yards in a game. He registered 368 total yards in the first half (308 passing, 60 rushing), the third-highest total in any half in school history.
This marks the second Newcomer of the Week award for Hurts who also has an Offensive Player of the Week award (Won both on Sept. 3rd).
