Completing a single game in conference play, Oklahoma remainS the front runner in the Big 12 race. Despite three consecutive dominant performances, the media continues to drop the program in the national rankings. Currently ranked No. 6 in the standings, the Sooners appear to be on the outside looking in when it comes to the College Football Playoff picture.
However, the experts at ESPN have a differing opinion. Compiling a list of post-season projections, Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach both believe Oklahoma is capable of reaching the CFP once again.
In the semi-final, Bonagura paired the Sooners up with the Clemson Tigers in the Fiesta Bowl. While there’s a bit of a story line due to the previous match ups, there’s nothing fans want to see more than Jalen Hurts squaring off against Alabama. That’s the case for Schlabach’s prediction as he believes the Crimson Tide and OU are on a collision course hosted by the Peach Bowl.
