No. 6/6 Oklahoma (11-1, 8-1 Big 12) is going for a fifth consecutive Big 12 title and 13th overall.
The Sooners own a 26-3 (.897) all-time record against Baylor. In the Big 12 era, the Sooners hold a 21-3 series advantage (.875). Saturday’s game will mark the first in the series not played in Norman or Waco.
OU has more Big 12 Championship game wins (nine) than any other program has appearances. The Sooners have qualified for 11 of the league’s 18 title games and owns a 9-1 record. Texas and Nebraska rank second with six Big 12 title game appearances, and the Longhorns rank second with three wins.
This game will mark the first AP top-10 matchup between the Sooners and Bears. OU has made 602 all-time appearances in the AP’s top 10, while Baylor has made 77.
OU’s current streak of four straight outright league championships is the longest among Power Five programs since Alabama won five in a row from 1971 to ’75 (Clemson is also riding a four-game outright streak [ACC]).
Oklahoma is the only program to win at least three straight Big 12 championships, and it has done so twice (2006-08 and 2015-18). Baylor (2013-14) is the only other program to win two Big 12 titles in a row.
