After dropping a game over the weekend, the Oklahoma Sooners looked to rebound with a midweek contest. Paired with the No. 22 Texas Tech Red Raiders on a neutral court, the unexpected occurred. Racing out to an 11-2 start, Kristian Doolittle and the rest of the group never looked back.
Forced to deal with a mask due to a broken nose, Doolittle remained unfazed. Continuing to pour in point after point, the forward knocked down nine shots. Netting a team high 19 points in the effort, Doolittle helped secure a pivotal 65-51 win. Improving to 17-11 on the year, the Sooners remain three games shy of the magic number and a 20-win season.
Throughout the course of the year, rebounds have proven to be a good indicator of when OU will secure a win. Out-rebounding an opponent has led to victory more often than not. Tonight that was once again the case as the Sooners ripped down 43 rebounds to the Red Raiders 26. Limiting second chance points, the defense held TTU to 33% shooting from the floor.
Contributing on the scoreboard as well, Brady Manek added 15 points of his own. While two others also scored in double-digits, carrying the momentum forward remains the focus. No. 20 West Virginia sits on the horizon and Oklahoma will be eyeing a season sweep of the Mountaineers.
