The offseason for college sports is also known as the transfer season and it looks like the Sooners are about to get hit with a departure from a key player. According to Jeff Goodman, junior-to-be guard Jamal Bieniemy is planning to transfer.
Bieniemy scored a season-high 15 points in Oklahoma’s 71-62 win against Minnesota on November 9th. He produced a average of 5.2 points, 4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game as one of Lon Kruger’s five starters. The largest scoring output of his career came against West Virginia in March of 2019 when he put up 22 points in Oklahoma’s 92-80 win.
If we have, in fact, seen Bieniemy in the crimson and cream for the last time, this is the play I will most remember him for. It came against Texas during his freshman season.
Bieniemy would be the second Oklahoma player to enter the transfer portal this offseason. Center Corbin Merritt entered the portal late last month.
