The moment has finally arrived. After 4 1/2 months, the Oklahoma City Thunder (40-24) and the Utah Jazz (42-23) finally get to play the game that was halted on that fateful Wednesday evening in March, postponing the NBA season indefinitely.
The rosters are essentially the same as they were back in March, but to say neither team has changed would be absolutely incorrect. The hiatus essentially served as an extra offseason, and there’s an argument to be made that the time off benefited the Thunder more than any other team.
Veterans like Chris Paul, Steven Adams, and Danilo Gallinari were able to rest. The young core was able to use the time to improve. Heck, Andre Roberson managed to get back to full strength, and now he’s back on the court.
With just 8 games left to finish out the season and seed the playoffs, both teams are fighting for better playoff position. The Thunder needs to kickoff the season restart strong, and a win over the Utah Jazz would the way to make that happen.
