Lon Kruger literally pulled a fast on on Thursday. Early in the day the Sooners made an offer to 6-5/175 forward Josh O’Garro. By the end of the day he was committed to Oklahoma as a member of the 2020 recruiting class.
A native of Caymen Islands, O’Garro started the day destined to Sunrise Christian Academy in Wichita, Kansas. However, a Zoom call with the Oklahoma coaching staff changed all of that. The 4-star prospect is eligible to reclassify as a member of the 2020 class and join the Sooner basketball program instead.
The plan is for O’Garro to redshirt for the 2020-21 season before becoming a contributor on the floor next year. His commitment gives Kruger four new members to the team in 2020. In addition to transfers of guards Elijah Harkless and Umoja Gibson, O’Garro will join 3-star point guard Trey Phipps as the new faces on Oklahoma’s roster.
