Sooners Down Houston Baptist For Third Consecutive Blowout Win

Since dropping a 99-77 decision at Xavier ten days ago Oklahoma has won three consecutive games by fourteen points or more. The latest came on Saturday by way of an 84-65 defeat of Houston Baptist.

While toying around with lineups and extended bench play during the first half, the Sooners went into the break with a mildly lethargic 38-35 win over the Huskies. Oklahoma took the final 20 minutes a bit more seriously, rolling up their sleeves to outscore HBU 46-30 to secure a 5th win of the season.

The Sooners shot just 21.7% from three-point range but were 49.3% overall from the floor. Senior guard Austin Reaves was 4-of-7 from the floor, and sank all six of his free throw attempts to lead a total of sixteen Oklahoma players in scoring. Brady Manek (13), Victor Iwuakor (12), and Alondes Williams (10) joined Reaves (15) in double figure scoring. A total of twelve OU players scored in the game.

Defensively Oklahoma held the Huskies to 42.1% shooting and forced 17 turnovers. The Sooners also held a 40-29 advantage on the boards in the final tune up game before a stretch of nine conference games begins on Tuesday night.
