Coveted Transfer & Offensive Lineman Commits To OU

The Oklahoma Sooners 2021 Recruiting Class sits at 16 signees. However, many believed the program would dip into the transfer portal after Adrian Ealy opted to enter the upcoming NFL Draft. Soon after, a coveted prospect hit the market and the coaching staff pursued. On Monday afternoon, the effort paid off as Wanya Morris committed to Oklahoma!

As one of the nation’s top high school linemen in 2019, Morris earned a five star rating from the recruiting experts. Initially committing and signing with the Tennessee Volunteers, the talented tackle made an immediate impact. Starting in 12-of-13 games as a true freshman, accolades poured in for Morris including Freshman All-American honors.

Continuing the success on the field, Morris appeared in 22 games with the Volunteers while starting 19 of those contests. Possessing experience in the SEC against some top-tier talent, the transfer narrowed down the choices to three schools featuring Texas A&M as well as the USC Trojans.

Moving forward, Morris is expected to compete for playing time on day with the Sooners. Knowing there are issues on the left side of the line as well as two linemen leaving for the NFL, there is opportunity. Regardless, this is a name that OU fans will quickly become acquainted with.
