Big XII Softball | Two Sooners Collect Weekly Honors

The top ranked Oklahoma Sooners continue their dominance on the diamond after posting a 5-0 record during the Courtyard Marriott Tournament in Norman. During the home stay, the program outscored opponents 49-2 which included four shutouts in five games. En route to an undefeated week, two players earned Big XII Weekly honors.

As a freshman, Tiare Jennings has played like anything but a rookie. Hitting .647 over the five game stretch, the infielder accounted for four home runs and 10 RBIs. The effort propelled Jennings toward being labeled as the Big XII Player of the Week for the second time this season. Appearing all over the infield, the freshman remained perfect on the defensive side of the ball.

Joining her teammate on the list, Shannon Saile entered the circle on two separate occasions for the Sooners during the tournament. Producing two wins, the redshirt senior improved to 8-0 on the year. However, in the two most recent appearances, Saile refused to allow an earned run. Giving up three hits and a single walk, the right-handed hurler struck out 12 others. The effort proved worthy of the title of Big XII Pitcher of the Week.

Next up, the Sooners make the short journey to Oklahoma City for the Hall of Fame Tournament before returning home to face Team Mexico.
