What Oklahoma Sooners Are Getting In Newest Commit, DL Cedric Roberts

On Wednesday afternoon, the Oklahoma Sooners offered a scholarship to a 3-star defensive lineman out of Pflugerville, TX by the name of Cedric Roberts. Entering the equation as the tenth program to officially extend a scholarship, the lineman required very little time to consider the options. The same day, Roberts responded with a “committed” post via Twitter.

What are the Sooners getting in the commit?

It’s pretty clear to see that Roberts is an underrated prospect on the high school level. Demonstrating an electric first step, the lineman puts the man protecting the quarterback on their heels immediately. However, the senior in high school also displays the ability to move from sideline to sideline in pursuit after getting into the backfield. With decent upper body strength, Roberts is able to shed opposing linemen and then simply overwhelms the ball carrier.

At 6’3” 275-pounds, Roberts’ size is comparable to the likes of Jalen Redmond and Perrin Winfrey. Able to add strength and muscle to his frame, the defensive lineman is on the verge of a breakout senior season that has programs lining up to chat to Roberts.

Still, Oklahoma earned the commitment and it will be tough to pull Roberts away!
