For the third year in a row the Sooners are getting an offensive lineman from the Pac 12 to come out of the transfer portal. On Monday former Cal offensive lineman McKade Mettauer announced his decision to commit to Oklahoma. The 6-4/305 picked up second-team All-Pac-12 honors in 2021 playing right guard for the Golden Bears. A member of the 2019 recruiting class, Mettauer has played in 29 games for Cal with 28 starts.
Mettauer joins former UCLA Bruin Chris Murray (2020) and former Arizona Wildcat Robert Congel (2021) who have both found a home along Oklahoma’s offensive line. Murray is entrenched as OU’s starting right guard and Congel has split time at center with Andrew Raym. With left guard Marquis Hayes and right tackle Tyrese Robinson strong candidates to declare for the NFL Draft this may be the most needed offensive line transfer of the three. Chris Murray is eligible for the draft as well but it’s more likely that he returns in 2022. That opens the door for Oklahoma to potentially have three Pac 12 transfers starting along the offensive line.
Mettauer is a grad transfer and will have two years of eligibility left.
