Day three at the Women’s College World series has come to a conclusion which means another day of elimination games is upon us. Four teams will face off on Sunday afternoon and evening to try and earn one of two spots in Monday’s semifinal round. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State punched their tickets on Saturday with wins over Texas and Florida setting the stage for Elimination Sunday.
Oklahoma 7 – Texas 2
Jocelyn Alo and Tiare Jennings both blasted RBI home runs and Jayda Coleman hit a pair of doubles, and scored twice, in the Women’s College World Series edition of the Red River Rivalry. Hope Trautwein was dominant from the pitcher’s circle, holding Texas to just two runs, off six hits, in a complete game performance.
Oklahoma will play the winner of UCLA and Florida in the semi-final round on Monday. Texas will face Arizona in Sunday’s second elimination game.
Oklahoma State 2 – Florida 0
Oklahoma State sent Florida into the loser’s bracket thanks to a complete game performance from ace Kelly Maxwell in which she allowed no runs, just three hits, and struck out nine Gator batters.
Oklahoma State will play the winner of Texas and Arizona in the semi-final round on Monday.
Both the Sooners and Cowgirls would have to lose twice in order to miss the championship series. Conversely they both would only need to win once more in order to reach the championship round.
Sunday’s Schedule
UCLA and Florida will get Elimination Sunday started when they play each other at 2:00 PM (CT). That game will be broadcast by ABC.
At 6:00 PM Texas will play Arizona in a game that will be carried by ESPN2.
