Patty Gasso doesn’t rebuild, she reloads! That’s a luxury that’s afforded to her for running the hottest program in her sport right now. The back-to-back national champions are cashing in on their current run through the world of college softball. Gasso has replaced departed senior Hope Trautwein with Michigan grad transfer Alex Storako.
Like Trautwein, Storako comes to Oklahoma with one year of eligibility left. And, like Trautwein, Patty Gasso is hoping to use another talented transfer in the circle to lead the Sooners back to the Promised Land. During her time in Ann Arbor, Storako has posted a 1.71 ERA, striking out 901 batters over 563 total innings pitched. She she leaves Michigan with 69 wins to only 20 losses, while holding opponents to just a .162 batting average. In 2021 she was named the Big 10 Pitcher of the Year after leading the nation with a 2.9 strikeout-per-seven innings average. That season she posted a 22-3 record with a 1.05 ERA, amassing 270 strikeouts in 146 innings pitched.
Gasso likely isn’t finished with the transfer portal either. After losing the likes of Jocelyn Alo and Jana Johns from the lineup, there are several “hitter’s” names out in the rumor mill. It’s definitely worth keeping an eye on as Gasso and the Sooners are at the height of popularity and could possibly have the first pick of anyone in the portal.
