Friday Locks | Week 9

We were barely over .500 last week but that certainly beats barely being under .500 for the week. Here’s our next attempt to pick against the spread in Top 25 matchups. Make sure to let us know where you agree or disagree with the picks.

This Week’s Picks

TCU (-7.5) at West Virginia | I know this takes place in Morgantown, but TCU is the real deal and will roll without any problems. They should easily win this one by 8 or more.

South Carolina (-3.5) vs. Missouri | South Carolina has earned its way into the Top 25 after a shaky start to the season. Shane Beamer has done an incredible job there in a short time. I think they’ll win this game and continue to climb the rankings.

Ole Miss (-2) at Texas A&M | Can Ole Miss visit College Station and leave with a win? Texas A&M is in a world of hurt right now. Meanwhile, Ole Miss continues to improve and has one of the better offenses in the country.

Syracuse (-2.5) vs. Notre Dame | The last time Notre Dame faced a ranked opponent they were knocking off BYU who was ranked #16 at the time. Syracuse is looking to bounce back after letting one slip away against Clemson last weekend. The Irish have had success against the Orange in recent matchups but that’ll run out this Saturday.

Penn State (+15.5) at Ohio State | Is Ohio State on upset alert? No. That said, Iowa did lay a blueprint for frustrating the Buckeye defense and Penn State has the athletes (especially in the secondary) to work it. Look for this game to be a bit tight early and then for a late surge from the Buckeyes to almost get them to the points spread differential.

West Virginia (+7.5) vs. TCU | The Horned Frogs have produced big win after big win time and again this season. There’s a danger in them letting their guards down in Morgantown this weekend and the game becoming closer than it should be. That’s what I’m banking on.

Penn State (+15.5) at Ohio State | The Buckeyes are a great football team, but Penn State isn’t too shabby either. I’m not seeing this being a blowout, so I’m taking the Nittany Lions to at least cover the two-touchdown spread.

TCU (-7.5) at West Virginia | The Horned Frogs have been the benefactors of a number of lucky breaks this season on the defensive side of the ball, but the offense is legit. They should blow West Virginia out, even if it is in Morgantown.

Oklahoma State (+1.5) at Kansas State | The game being in Manhattan is the only real edge I’m giving Kansas State in this one. I don’t think it’s enough to give them the win, though. I’m thinking the Cowboys by double digits.
