Leading up to Sunday Oklahoma had been on an 86-day drought without a football commitment. Ashton Sanders’ commitment on Sunday ended that dry spell and on Monday the Sooners received a second commitment in less than 48 hours after the game.
Nolensville, Tennessee product Taylor Wein became the 22nd verbal commitment for the Sooners on Monday. The 6-5/235 3-star defensive lineman had seen an uptick in his recruiting and OU was able capitalize by being on the frontend of it. Brent Venables and company came in with a scholarship offer on November 9th and then were immediately followed by offers from Virginia Tech, USC, Missouri, Cincinnati, Ole Miss, Kentucky, and Oklahoma State. Wein is now sitting on 25 scholarship offers but getting him to Norman for the Bedlam game was clutch.
247Sports has Wein raked as the No. 67 edge rusher and the No. 23 overall player from the state of Tennessee for the class of 2023. For Oklahoma it’s a good pickup due to losing Colton Vasek to Texas. It also could just be the beginning of the Sooners reaping the benefits of a big recruiting weekend for the Bedlam game. There are several rumors trending in favor of OU right now. It’ll certainly make for a fun final month before the early signing period begins on December 21st.
