The Sooners have snagged a tight end out of the transfer portal and he’s going to be a familiar face. Coming off the second-best season he’s had in college, statistically, Austin Stogner has decided that one year at South Carolina is enough and will be returning to Norman where he previously had played from 2019-2021.
After catching 20 passes at South Carolina this fall, for 210 yards and a touchdown, Stogner is just outside of the 247Sports Top 50 players in the transfer portal. The 6-5/250 product from Plano, Texas previously had caught 47 passes, for 654 yards and 8 touchdowns, at Oklahoma. His best collegiate season, regardless of the school, came in 2020 when he caught 26 passes for 422 yards (16.2 YPC) and 3 touchdowns.
Already enrolled at Oklahoma, Stogner joins 4-star defensive tackle Jacob Lacey (Notre Dame) as OU’s second commitment from the transfer portal.
The Sooners have seen a total of fourteen players from the 2022 squad enter the portal.
