Oklahoma continued it’s efforts to bring in defensive reinforcements through the transfer portal by adding former Texas Tech safety Reggie Pearson Jr. to the roster. The graduate transfer announced, through social media, on Thursday morning that he would be moving north to Norman for his final season of college eligibility.
Oklahoma will be the third program Pearson has been a part. The 5-11/200 Detroit native began his career at Wisconsin and then transferred to Texas Tech for the 2021 season. He logged 109 tackles, a forced fumble, and three interceptions in two seasons for the Red Raiders. Prior to his time in Lubbock he recorded 65 tackles and three forced fumbles for the Badgers during the 2018 and 2019 seasons. During his only season as a starter in Madison (2019) he produced a career high 65 tackles.
Pearson will join defensive lineman Jacob Lacey (Notre Dame), tight end Austin Stogner (South Carolina), Edge Rusher Dasan McCullough (Indiana), and Kendel Dolby (Northeastern Oklahoma A&M) to join the Sooners as transfer players for the 2023 cycle.
