The University of Oklahoma continued its revamp of the roster through the transfer portal on Thursday. Brent Venables added linebacker Konnor Near to his defense. The 6-2/236 All-American will add quality depth to the linebacker room and bring experience, along with veteran leadership, to a corps that needs some of both.
Near recorded 66 tackles, and three sacks, for Ferris State in 2023 and help lead the Bulldogs to a second consecutive Division II national championship. The Saint Johns, Michigan, native chose Oklahoma over transfer portal offers from the likes of Duke, Cincinnati, Michigan State, Texas Tech. He comes to OU with two years of eligibility left.
