Our fall from last week’s greatness to this week’s mediocrity continues. Yesterday we went 1-2 with our picks, dropping our weekly record to 10-8 and our winnings are down to just $7.15. However, we do still have winnings so that’s something to be positive about. Today we’ll wrap up the week, and hopefully boost those winnings, with another dose of the L.A. Dodgers (63-46) vs. San Diego (55-56) as our random game.
The Pitchers
Lance Lynn (7-9, 6.32 ERA) is making his second start with the Dodgers. Against Oakland, on August 1st, he pitched seven innings, striking out seven and allowing just three earned runs. He’s allowing four runs per game over his last five starts.
Opposing Lynn is San Diego’s Rich Hill (7-10, 4.76 ERA) who has allowed 3.2 earned runs per game over his last five starts. Hill has failed to make it to the fifth inning in two of his last five appearances.
The Lineups
The Dodgers are led by Mookie Betts’ 29 home runs and Freddie Freeman’s .337 batting average and 77 RBI. Six batters in the Dodger lineup have recorded at least one hit against Lynn. L.A. has scored 38 runs over the last five games.
The Padres have a duo of offensive leaders with Juan Soto leading the team in home runs (24) and RBI (72), while Ha-Seon Kim leads in batting average (.286). San Diego has scored 35 runs over the last five games.
The Streaks
L.A.’s loss to San Diego on Saturday night snapped a four-game losing streak. The Padres have won three of their last four games.
The Odds
Dodgers -1.5
Dodgers -130
O/U 9.5
I think the Padres are in a good spot here. They’re coming off a convincing win on Saturday evening and are playing with a lot of momentum. I think it’ll be closer than Saturday’s game but give me the Padres against the spread (-150) and I love San Diego on the moneyline at +120. We’re picking the over for the first time this week as well.
