MLB Best Bet For August 26, 2023 | Rangers vs. Twins

It’s not too late for us to turn the week around…but it’s getting close. After going 1-2 again on Friday’s Braves/Giants game, we absolutely have to produce winners on Saturday and Sunday in order to save the week. We’re going back to the Rangers and Twins for a second dose this week in an effort to get a good streak going.

The Pitchers

Max Scherzer (12-5, 3.77 ERA) struggled with command in his last outing. He threw 99 pitches in less than four innings, and gave up three earned runs in a loss to Milwaukee. Over the last five games he’s allowed an average of 1.6 earned runs per game and has fanned 37 total batters, so he should be on pace for a bounce back today.

Minnesota’s Joe Ryan (9-8, 4.43 ERA) is coming off the 15-day injured list to face the Rangers. His last appearance came on August 2 when he gave up seven earned runs to the Cardinals. Ryan has given up an average of 4.6 earned runs over his last five games and has collected one win during that time.

The Lineups

The Rangers are led from the plate by Adolis Garcia, who has knocked 31 home runs and recorded 93 RBI. Nathaniel Lowe leads the team with a .281 batting average. The Rangers have scored 15 runs over the last five games.

Minnesota’s home run leader in Max Kepler, who has blasted 21 home runs this season. Carlos Correa is pacing the Twins with a .229 batting average and 57 RBI. The Twins have scored 31 runs over the last five games.

The Streaks

The Rangers come into Saturday’s game having lost eight in a row in a losing streak that goes all the way back to August 16th. The Twins have won two in a row over Texas and three of their last five games.

The Odds

Rangers -1.5

Rangers -115 on the moneyline

O/U 8

At some point the losing streak has to end for the Rangers and I believe that day is today. The pitching advantage is just too strong here for Texas, assuming Scherzer bounces back from his last outing, and -115 on the moneyline is pretty good. I would still take the Twins to cover at +1.5 because I can see this game remaining within a run. Due to the recent pitching struggles, from both sides, the over seems to be the way to go here.
