We’re off to a decent start this week. After going 2-1 on yesterday’s Tigers/Yankees game, we’re off to a 4-2 start to the week. Today we’re going back to the well with a very familiar team in the Atlanta Braves (90-47) as they host the St. Louis Cardinals (60-78). Here’s to having another winning day!!!
The Pitchers
Spencer Strider (16-4, 3.56 ERA) and the Braves come around at least once a week for us on our random game generator. Strider is on a hot streak of four consecutive wins and he’s allowed an average of just 2.2 earned runs per game, over his last five.
Strider is going to be facing Dakota Hudson (5-1, 4.02 ERA) who has been pretty solid for the Cardinals. Hudson has three wins in his last five appearances and is allowing an average of 2.6 earned runs per game over that span.
The Lineups
Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt are the stars that power the St. Louis offense. Arenado leads the team with 26 home runs and 87 RBI, while Goldschmidt is posting a .275 batting average.
Matt Olson has blasted 45 home runs, and knocked in 114 RBI for the Braves, while Ronald Acuna Jr. has a .332 batting average. Atlanta has scored 25 total runs over the last five games.
The Streaks
St. Louis travels to Atlanta having won two games in a row, and three of their last five. The Braves have lost two in a row, including the series opener against St. Louis on Tuesday evening.
The Odds
Braves -1.5
Braves -305 on the moneyline
O/U 9
This is where things get a little crazy for me. I really like St. Louis here. They pulled off the win on Tuesday night, they’re hitting the ball really well right now, and they are on a bit of a hot streak. This is a tall task against the Braves, in Atlanta, but we’re talking about a team that practically has the division locked up, and have six games on the Dodgers for the top overall seed in the playoffs. It could be easy for Atlanta to lose some focus.
Give me Saint Louis +1.5, Saint Louis on the moneyline, and we’ll run with the under tonight. I don’t make it a habit to pick against the Braves, but when I do, I go big!
