Our week didn’t get any better on Friday. Once again, we hit just one of our three picks. We were looking at the Yankees and the Pirates on Friday, getting the moneyline correct, but missing Pittsburgh at +1.5 and the under of 7.5 runs. We still have today and tomorrow to salvage a week where we currently stand at 7-9 on our MLB picks. The Chicago Cubs (78-70) visiting Arizona (77-72) is where we’re going to right the ship tonight!
The Pitchers
Chicago’s Kyle Hendricks (6-7, 3.71 ERA) has led the Cubs to wins in four of his last five starts. During that span he’s allowing an average of just 1.8 earned runs per game.
It’s a similar story for Arizona’s Zach Davies (1-4, 6.23 ERA). The Diamondbacks have four four of the last five times he’s appeared on the mound. In that time he’s allowed an average of 3.8 earned runs per game.
The Lineups
Cody Bellinger has been a one-man wrecking crew in the Chicago line up as of late. He leads the team in home runs (25), RBI (90), and batting average (.315). Over the last five games the Cubs have scored 21 runs.
Christian Walker is pacing the Diamondbacks with 30 home runs and 91 RBI, while Corbin Carroll has a team-best .279 batting average. Arizona has scored just 16 runs over the last five games.
The Streaks
Chicago has lost three games in a row, including Friday night’s series opener against the Diamondbacks. Arizona’s 6-4 win over the Cubs on Friday snapped a three-game losing streak.

I’m on board with the Cubs tonight. I think they end their three-game skid, and I think they do so by covering the -1.5 runs against Arizona. I also believe that this game is going to come in under the 9 total runs.
