Excitement is in the air in Oklahoma City as the Thunder are expected to have their best season in several years. Despite finishing just under .500 last season with a 40-42 record, the Thunder managed to make the play-in round of the postseason, where they defeated the New Orleans Pelicans before falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Now OKC is ready to take another step towards greatness as they hope to earn a legitimate spot in the postseason.
Before the regular kicks off, however, the Thunder has a few preseason games to play, and it all starts on Monday night as they play host to the San Antonio Spurs. While this is just a preseason game, there is still plenty of hype as Thunder rookie Chet Holmgren will matchup, even just momentarily, with Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama.
The Thunder will be without All-NBA guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who is out for rest, as well as newcomer Vasilije Micic and veteran Aleksej Pokusevski. Even with the missing players, the game should be an exciting one full of young talent all over the place on both sides.
