Series History
The Thunder is 2-0 against the Blazers so far this season (1-0 at home, 1-0 on the road).
Why the Thunder Will NOT Cover (-13.5)
I doubted OKC to cover on Saturday against the Timberwolves, but with good reason. I didn’t think they could pull out a win on the road against the West’s top team, especially considering it was the fourth game in a 4-game road trip. Still, gutted it out. I’m doubt the Thunder to cover again tonight at home against the Blazers, but for far different reasons.
Portland is terrible. When these two teams met in OKC less than two weeks ago, history was made as the Thunder destroyed the Blazers by 62 points, the fifth largest margin of victory in NBA history. Still, they have played teams consistently closer since then, and they even managed to pick up back-to-back wins in the five games since. While I still think OKC will win by double digits, I think Portland barely manages to cover the spread.
Why the Game Will Hit the Over (233.5)
Because I’m expecting Portland to barely cover the spread, they’re going to have to do some scoring. They have the lowest-scoring offense in the NBA, but that doesn’t meant they’re flat out incapable of getting points on the board. They only average 107.5 per game, but in 4 of their last 5 games, they have managed at least 110, so that’s something, right? Either way, OKC will a score a ton, and I think the point total goes over.
