The Thunder is 4-0 against the spread as road underdogs so far this season, and tonight is probably their toughest road test thus far. The Timberwolves are really good at home, losing just one game so far this season, so OKC will have to play some of their best basketball if they want to leave with a win. Jalen Williams is set to return from a hip strain, so with the Thunder at full strength, I think they can come away with the victory.

Oklahoma City Thunder | Game #16 Preview: Philadelphia 76ers
The Oklahoma City Thunder is the hottest team in the NBA right now. Riding a 6-game winning streak, the Thunder looks like the next big thing in basketball, and they get a chance on Saturday afternoon to take on one of the league’s giants from the last few seasons as Joel Embiid and the Phildealphi 76ers are in town.

The Thunder has not won 6 consecutive games in the 2018-19 season when they did it twice, but they have a good opportunity to do it tonight as they host the Bulls. Chicago has a roster of solid veterans, but they haven’t been able to figure things out so far this season. Meanwhile, OKC is rolling, and they look like one of the top teams in the league behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and rookie Chet Holmgren.

Just a day later, the Thunder is in Portland on Sunday night where they will take on the Trail Blazers. The Blazers are going through it right now as they sit near the bottom of the Western Conference standings with a 3-9 record, but when you see their long injury report, you can understand why. OKC has had Portland’s number for the last two seasons with 8 straight wins against the Blazers, but 7 of those wins have been decided by single digits.

Now the Thunder turns their attention to a 3-game road trip that begins with two games against the Golden State Warriors in a three-day span. The Warriors are in a rough stretch of 4 straight losses, and it’s probably not going to get any better any time soon as they are without Steph Curry due to a sprained knee. Draymond Green is also out for the next 5 games as he serves a suspension for his involvement in a brawl with the Minnesota Timberwolves where Green placed Rudy Gobert in a chokehold.

Now the attention turns to the Thunder hosting the San Antonio Spurs for OKC’s third In-Season Tournament group game. Chet Holmgren vs. Victor Wembanyama is a matchup that has been hyped for months now, and we saw a little bit of that action in a preseason game where the two came out fairly even. This one actually counts, though, and while a lot of the focus will be on those two, the Thunder should be able to defeat the Spurs without too much trouble.

OKC is trending up, San Antonio is still mingling towards the bottom, but I still don’t see the Thunder winning this one by double digits, so I’m taking the Spurs to cover the spread.

Simply put, the Thunder is going to have to protect the paint if they want to succeed against the Pelicans. Zion Williamson is not easily contained, and Chet Holmgren is clearly undersized in that matchup. I would expect OKC head coach Mark Daigneault to play plenty of Olivier Sarr tonight to help slow down the New Orleans bigs. In the backcourt, however, OKC has the advantage, especially if Brandon Ingram is unable to go for the Pelicans. Either way, this has the makings of a fun night with plenty of scoring.
