Oklahoma is returning from Mexico tested but unblemished. With the winning streak now at 57 games, the Sooners finished their trip to the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge with a 4-0 record, outscoring their opponents 31-6, and are now 10-2 all-time at the event.
The latest was an 11-3 win over Long Beach State, giving the Sooners a perfect weekend record of 4-0 and solidifying their spot as the top team in the country.
Game Notes
– Karlie Keeney starred in the circle while earning her first win as a Sooner, taking the ball in the second with the game tied at 3-3. The right-hander proceeded to retire each of the 13 batters she faced, going 4.1 scoreless and striking out a pair. Her win marks the 70th of her collegiate career.
– Alyssa Brito homered twice and went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and four driven in. She opened the scoring with a three-run blast in the first inning and added a solo shot in the sixth.
– Brito earned most outstanding player honors for the tournament’s first session, hitting .417 (5-for-12) with six runs scored, three homers, five RBIs and a 1.700 OPS.
– Cydney Sanders put OU ahead 4-3 with a solo home run in the top of the fifth. Oklahoma plated six more in the sixth courtesy of Brito’s homer, two bases-loaded free passes, a double-play grounder and a two-run blast off the bat of Tiare Jennings.
– Kinzie Hansen enjoyed a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
– Paytn Monticelli tossed a scoreless seventh to secure the win, allowing a lone hit.
– Kasidi Pickering and Kelly Maxwell joined Brito on the all-tournament team. Pickering led OU with seven RBIs across her collegiate debut weekend and was 5-for-11 (.455) at the plate.
– Maxwell won both her appearances in the circle and fired 7.2 scoreless, striking out four and allowing just one hit.

OU will compete in the Cowgirl Challenge hosted by McNeese State in Lake Charles, La. beginning Friday, Feb. 16. The Sooners will play Central Arkansas twice, McNeese twice and Lamar once over the course of the three-day event.
