The Sooners boast a potent offense led by Kinzie Hansen’s scorching bat. In the circle, Kelly Maxwell brings the heat with her impressive strikeout numbers. Can they overpower their opponents or will they face stiffer competition?
#4 Cleveland State Vikings (22-24)
- Leading Hitter: Emma Gilkerson (.353 batting average, 6 home runs)
- Leading Pitcher: Melissa Holzopfel (19-9 record, 1.77 ERA)
Despite being the lowest-ranked team, Cleveland State shouldn’t be underestimated. Sophomore Emma Gilkerson provides pop with her home run power, while junior Melissa Holzopfel aims to silence opposing bats with her sub-2.00 ERA.
#3 Boston University Terriers (52-4-1)
- Leading Hitter: Lauren Keleher (.407 batting average, 8 home runs)
- Leading Pitcher: Kasey Ricard (27-3 record, 1.20 ERA)
Boston boasts the nation’s best team ERA, anchored by the dominant Kasey Ricard. Her microscopic 1.20 ERA will be a tough nut to crack for opposing offenses. Offensively, Lauren Keleher’s well-rounded batting average and home run power make her a force to be reckoned with.
#2 Oregon Ducks (28-19)
- Leading Hitter: Kai Luschar (.423 batting average, 27 stolen bases)
- Leading Pitcher: Elise Sokolsky (8-3 record, 2.41 ERA)
Oregon enters the Norman Regional with a chip on their shoulder, holding an 0-2 record against the Sooners in Norman. Redshirt junior Kai Luschar is a threat on the base paths with her blazing speed, while Elise Sokolsky provides stability in the circle. With Coach Melyssa Lombardi returning to her alma mater, the Ducks look to be the top challenger to Oklahoma.
