Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver Jalil Farooq is out for an extended period after suffering a broken foot in the team’s season opener against Temple. The injury occurred on the opening drive, where Farooq made a spectacular 47-yard catch before leaving the game.
Farooq, a seasoned veteran with 86 career catches for 1,199 yards and seven touchdowns, was expected to be a key contributor to Oklahoma’s offense this season. His absence will be a significant blow to the Sooners, who already lost another wide receiver, Jayden Gibson, to a season-ending injury during camp.
The injury will require surgery and Farooq is expected to miss 6-8 weeks. His return timeline will depend on the severity of the break and the success of the surgery.
