Last week was a disaster for our crew on Friday Locks! We collectively went 4-9 on our picks, our worst performance of the season. This disappointing showing dropped our collective season record to 25-33.
Let’s hope for a much-improved performance in Week 5! We’re taking a look at a total of nine games this week, with a particular focus on the Oklahoma State vs. Kansas State matchup, which has garnered opinions from three of our guys.
Week 5 Picks
Caleb
Oklahoma (-2) at Auburn – Our defense is the real deal. Auburn has struggled to move the ball this season. I expect the sooners to win by double digits
Utah (-10) vs Arizona – Utah showed last week that their defense is everything they need to win games.
Oklahoma State (+5) at Kansas State – OSU found some rhythm last in the 4th last week. I expect this Gundy team to be able to keep that up this week.
Tulane (-4.5) vs South Florida – The green wave still has an outside shot at the CFP. They had a big win on the road last week and look to be in shape to get a big win against a good South Florida team.
Craig
Georgia (-2) at Alabama – This is the most anticipated matchup so far of the season. The two power houses will go head to head, but I see Georgia coming out on top.
Michigan (-9.5) vs Minnesota – Minnesota is coming off of a blowout loss at home to Iowa. I don’t think they will go to the big house and keep this game close. Michigan runs away with this one.
BYU (+3.5) at Baylor – BYU is coming off of a big win meanwhile the Bears are coming off an OT loss to Colorado. I think BYU walks into Waco and gets the job done.
Matt
Kentucky (+16) at Ole Miss – Kentucky has faced it’s share of offensive struggles but the Rebels are unproven against Power 4 opponents this year and the Wildcat defense appears to be the real deal.
Michigan (-10.5) vs. Minnesota – The Wolverines got some momentum going with last week’s win over USC. I expect they’ll keep it rolling this week with a multi-score win over the Gophers.
Kansas State (-5.5) vs. Oklahoma State – The Cowboys’ struggle to run the ball blows my mind. Ollie Gordon has been held to 50 yards or less rushing each of the past three games. It’s hard to win on the road when you can’t run the ball.
Zack
Virginia Tech Hokies at Miami (FL) Hurricanes (-19) – The Hurricanes haven’t had much competition yet, so they’ve been absolutely blasting the opposition, but Virginia Tech isn’t very good anyway, so I see Miami winning this by at least 3 touchdowns.
Oklahoma State Cowboys (+5) at Kansas State Wildcats – Both the Cowboys and the Wildcats need a bounceback game after last weekend. While I think Kansas State plays much better than they did in Provo against BYU, I believe Oklahoma State was already on the way to improvement by the end of their loss to Utah. I’m taking Oklahoma State straight up.
BYU Cougars (+3.5) at Baylor Bears – BYU is better than we expected, and Baylor probably is, too, but I don’t see how the Cougars are the underdog in this one, even if it is in Waco. BYU is going to win this game.
