Why the Thunder Will Cover (-4.5)
OKC has won a franchise-record 13 games in a row, but New York has won 9 consecutive games in their own right. Despite the Thunder being in the second game of a back-to-back—and the Knicks having a day of rest—I think the OKC covers. Playing in front of the home crowd definitely seems to make a difference for the Thunder, and Jalen Brunson is questionable for New York. His potential absence would be a pretty big blow in a tough game like this. Top-to-bottom, I think OKC is the better team, and I think they pull away late to cover the spread.
Why the Game Will Hit the Over (222)
This was a tough call. Only twice during the Thunder’s 13-game win streak has their opponent scored more than 106 points, and 6 times their opponent hasn’t broken 100 points. The Knicks have one of the top offenses in the league, and that’s because they’re so well-rounded with weapons at every position. They played pretty good defense as well. Still, with OKC coming off a game last night, I’m thinking there’s a little less defense and perhaps a few more easy buckets given up, allowing for the point total to go just over.
