The Oklahoma Sooners are facing a significant roster turnover heading into the 2025 season. The departures of star players like Jayda Coleman, Tiare Jennings, and Kinzie Hansen leave a sizable void in the lineup. However, despite those losses, Patty Gasso and her staff have reloaded through a combination of returning talent and impactful transfers. They’ll begin the season next month, once again, as one of the favorites to appear in Oklahoma City at the Women’s College World Series.
Remarkably, five Sooners were featured in Softball America’s Top 100 Players for the 2025 season, a testament to the program’s continued ability to attract and develop top talent. Ella Parker was the highest rated play on the Oklahoma roster at #11.
Sooners in S.A.’s Top 100
#11 Ella Parker
#16 Kasidi Pickering
#24 Abby Dayton
#50 Sam Landry
#53 Ailana Agbayani
Returning stars Ella Parker and Kasidi Pickering provide a strong foundation for the 2025 squad. Parker, who led the Sooners in batting average with a remarkable .415, showcased her immense talent throughout the 2024 season. Pickering, a fellow freshman standout in 2024, proved to be a consistent contributor, providing power and a strong presence in the lineup.
The Sooners have also bolstered their roster through the transfer portal, adding key pieces like Abby Dayton. Dayton, a former Pac-12 standout, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success at the collegiate level.
In the pitching circle, Sam Landry, another key transfer, provides much-needed depth and experience. Landry, who enjoyed a successful season at Louisiana, will be expected to make significant contributions in the upcoming season.
Ailana Agbayani, a highly-touted transfer from BYU, adds another dimension to the Oklahoma lineup. Her offensive prowess and on-base skills will be crucial to the team’s success.
While the Sooners may not have the same name recognition as in previous seasons when they take the field on February 6th, they still possess a talented core of returning players and impactful newcomers. With Gasso at the helm, Oklahoma will undoubtedly be a force in the SEC and beyond.
