Arkansas Razorbacks guard Boogie Fland, one of the most promising freshmen in the country, will miss the remainder of the season with a hand injury, according to multiple reports.
The news comes as a significant blow to an Arkansas team already struggling to find its footing in SEC play. The Razorbacks, winless in conference play, are currently on a five-game losing streak.
Fland, a projected NBA lottery pick, had been a key contributor to the Razorbacks’ success this season. He averaged 15.1 points, 5.7 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 36.5% from three-point range. His absence will take a toll on the Razorbacks’ offensive output, particularly due to his playmaking ability.
With Fland sidelined, the onus will fall on fellow guards D.J. Wagner and Johnell Davis to shoulder a greater offensive burden. Arkansas coach John Calipari will need to find creative ways to replace Fland’s production and maintain offensive efficiency.
This injury adds another layer of difficulty to Arkansas’ challenging schedule. The Razorbacks host Georgia tonight before facing the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday. The Sooners, who picked up their first SEC win on Saturday against South Carolina, will be looking to capitalize on Arkansas’ struggles.
