Oklahoma Softball’s Ella Parker Makes History as SEC Co-Player of the Week

Oklahoma Softball standout Ella Parker has earned her first career Southeastern Conference (SEC) Softball Co-Player of the Week honor, as announced by the conference office on Monday, February 10. Parker shares the accolade with Auburn’s Nelia Peralta, marking a historic moment as she becomes the first Oklahoma player to receive SEC Player of the Week recognition in program history.

Dominant Performance Fuels Sooners’ Perfect Week

Parker played a pivotal role in the No. 2-ranked Sooners’ dominant 6-0 performance during their trip to California, showcasing her all-around offensive and defensive abilities. The sophomore slugger posted an impressive .591 batting average (13-for-22), tallying 10 runs, five doubles, one home run, eight RBIs, three walks, and three stolen bases.

One of the highlights of Parker’s week came in a homecoming moment as she launched a solo home run to center field against Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles. Demonstrating her versatility, Parker started games in both corner outfield positions and as a designated player, flawlessly converting all nine defensive opportunities that came her way.

Nation-Leading Stats and Clutch Moments

Parker has quickly established herself as one of the nation’s top offensive threats. She is currently tied for the most doubles in the country (five) with Siena’s Ashley Giampolo and shares the national lead in total hits (13) with Grand Canyon’s Savanna Groshong-Kirk.

Her clutch performances helped propel the Sooners to key victories, including a two-double, three-RBI game in the season opener against Cal State Northridge. On Sunday at Long Beach State, Parker delivered again, driving in an insurance run with an RBI single in the 11th inning.

What’s Next for Oklahoma Softball?

The Sooners continue their road stretch, heading to Waco, Texas, for the Getterman Classic at Baylor University. Oklahoma will play four games over the weekend, facing Hofstra and Baylor on both Saturday and Sunday.
