No. 1 Oklahoma Sweeps No. 12 Arkansas with Explosive Offense, Stays Perfect in SEC Play

Just when it seemed like Arkansas had figured out Oklahoma, the Sooners once again found an answer. In a high-energy showdown at Bogle Park, top-ranked Oklahoma completed the series sweep over No. 12 Arkansas with a 10-7 victory, keeping their undefeated record intact in their inaugural SEC season.

Sooners Battle Back After Early Deficit

Arkansas wasted no time getting on the board in the series finale. A three-run homer from Courtney Day in the first inning gave the Razorbacks an early advantage, putting immediate pressure on Oklahoma’s pitching staff. Isabella Smith, the Sooners’ starter, managed to retire power hitter Bri Ellis, but Day’s blast gave Arkansas a 3-0 lead.

Oklahoma, however, responded in true championship fashion. Freshman Gabbie Garcia set the tone for the comeback with a solo home run that barely cleared the right-field fence. Razorbacks coach Courtney Deifel challenged the call, but the ruling stood. That blast ignited a six-run second inning, with Hannah Coor driving in a run on a double and Nelly McEnroe-Marinas delivering the biggest swing—a three-run homer that gave Oklahoma a 5-3 lead. Garcia added another RBI single, taking full advantage of a defensive miscue by Arkansas to extend the lead to 6-3.

Razorbacks Keep It Close

Arkansas clawed back in the third, as Ellis smashed a two-run homer that deflected off Coor’s glove and over the left-field wall, bringing the Razorbacks within a run at 6-5. But just as they had done earlier, the Sooners had a quick response.

Garcia continued her impressive power streak, launching her second home run of the game in the fourth inning, a no-doubt shot to right that pushed the lead back to 8-5.

Oklahoma Adds Key Insurance Runs

In the fifth, McEnroe-Marinas remained locked in, delivering an RBI double that allowed Dayton to score from first. Ella Parker, who had struggled at the plate throughout the series, finally broke through with a clutch RBI single to make it 10-5.

Ellis kept Arkansas in the fight, blasting her second two-run homer of the game in the bottom of the fifth to cut the deficit to three runs. However, that would be the final time the Razorbacks made an impact on the scoreboard.

Landry Dominates in Relief

As the game tightened, Oklahoma turned to ace reliever Sam Landry to close things out. She was electric, striking out the side in the sixth and allowing just one hit over 2 1/3 innings. Arkansas managed to get a runner on base in the seventh, but Landry shut the door, inducing a groundout to Garcia at shortstop to secure the sweep.

Landry’s stellar relief outing capped a weekend where she earned a win and two saves, proving why she’s one of the most reliable arms in the country.

Garcia Extends Hitting Streak

Garcia’s performance was nothing short of spectacular. She finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs, extending her hitting streak to 12 games. Her recent surge at the plate has made her one of the most dangerous hitters in the lineup, with nine home runs on the season—eight of them coming in the last 10 games.

Looking Ahead

With this win, Oklahoma improved to 26-0 overall and 6-0 in SEC play. After sweeping two ranked SEC opponents in back-to-back weekends, the Sooners have solidified their status as the conference’s premier team.

Oklahoma will return home for a midweek matchup against East Texas A&M before heading back on the road for a critical SEC series against Missouri. With their combination of youth and experience, the Sooners have proven that they remain the team to beat, even after an offseason of roster turnover.
