Thunder Dominate Shorthanded 76ers, Clinch Northwest Division Title

The Oklahoma City Thunder showed no signs of letting up in their pursuit of the Western Conference’s top seed, cruising past the undermanned Philadelphia 76ers in a dominant 133-100 victory on Wednesday night. Despite missing Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and three other starters, OKC took control early and never looked back, securing their second consecutive Northwest Division title in the process.

Jaylin Williams Shines in Triple-Double Performance

With several key players sidelined, Jaylin Williams stepped into the spotlight, delivering the best game of his career. The versatile big man recorded his second career triple-double, posting career highs in both points (19) and rebounds (17) while dishing out 11 assists. His all-around effort helped the Thunder overwhelm a Philadelphia squad that was without stars Joel Embiid, Paul George, and Tyrese Maxey.

“I thought it was a very professional win,” Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault said. “We played unselfishly. I thought everybody who went in the game played with no agenda and just played for the team. It was a good outcome as a result.”

Depth on Display

With Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, Lu Dort, and Isaiah Hartenstein all out, Oklahoma City relied on its depth to deliver a balanced scoring effort. Seven Thunder players finished in double figures, led by Aaron Wiggins with 26 points. Isaiah Joe added 21 points, while Chet Holmgren matched Jaylin Williams’ 19-point output. Off the bench, Branden Carlson (16), Kenrich Williams (13), and rookie Dillon Jones (11) provided additional firepower.

The game was effectively over by the third quarter, as OKC closed the period on a 33-14 run to stretch its lead to 29 points. The Thunder’s ball movement was crisp throughout the night, racking up 36 assists while only committing 12 turnovers.

76ers Unable to Keep Pace

Philadelphia fought to stay competitive early, cutting the Thunder’s lead to just six points in the second quarter. But without their top playmakers, the 76ers couldn’t sustain their offense. Quentin Grimes led all scorers with 28 points, continuing his strong month since joining Philadelphia. Justin Edwards contributed 19 points, while Chuma Okeke added a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

A major disparity in three-point shooting further tilted the game in OKC’s favor. The Thunder shot an efficient 46.2% from beyond the arc, making 24 of their 56 attempts. Meanwhile, the 76ers attempted a franchise-record 57 threes but connected on just 31.6% of them.

Looking Ahead

The win puts Oklahoma City one step closer to locking up the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. They’ll look to build on their momentum when they host the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night.

As for Philadelphia, their focus remains on player development as injuries have decimated their roster. They’ll try to bounce back on Friday when they visit the San Antonio Spurs.

With OKC owning the 76ers’ top-six protected first-round pick, every Philadelphia win increases the likelihood of the pick conveying to the Thunder. But on this night, Oklahoma City wasn’t interested in strategic losing—just another statement win on their path to postseason success.
